Point Pelee National Park District 19 Bus Tour

Tentative Itinerary

Date: Saturday, September 16, 2017 (rain or shine)
Time: 7:00am to 8:00pm
Location: St. Mary’s High School Parking Lot
1500 Block Line Rd. (near Homer Watson & Block Line)
Kitchener, ON
Fee: Members of a District 19 Hort Society – $85.00.
Non-members – $95.00 (includes a membership)
We encourage you to register early as space is limited to 50 seats.
Price Includes bus, lunch (excluding alcoholic beverages) and admission and tour fees

This year we are heading to the Point Pelee National Park (http://www.pc.gc.ca/en/pn-np/on/pelee) during the monarch butterfly migration. Our hostess will be Thelma Beaubien. We will be lunching at Freddy’s in Leamingtion and visiting a winery.
7:00 am Bus leaves St Mary’s High School (with a Tim’s stop on the way)

10:00 am Arrival Point Pelee National Park gates

10:15 am Marsh Boardwalk- 30-40-minute leisurely walk

11:20 am Tram ride to the tip- depart and return from the visitor’s centre

Guided walk by a PPNP staff member of the trails to the tip. At this time of year, it is the monarch migration and they roost overnight at the tip. It is an awesome area with a beach for walking on one side and rocks on the other.

On your return if time permits there are trails by the tram area.

1:30 pm Lunch at Freddy’s Restaurant in Leamington:
All meals come with your choice of fries or salad, an ice cream and coffee, tea or soft drink with refills. Choose one of: – Perch on a bun, – Chicken Wrap, – Veggie Wrap (need to pre-order)
Within walking distance is the Pelee Wings Nature store and a beach area.
3:00 pm Leave for Pelee Island Winery Tour at 3:15 (tour & 4 tastings included in cost)

4:15 pm Depart the winery; (short stop on the way home for snack/ food/drinks)

Suggested dress attire: Long pants; proper footwear such as running shoes are a must. Be sure to have a long-sleeved shirt or sweater to cover your arms should there be bugs or flies. Don’t forget your bug spray.
Please remember: refillable water bottle. water filling station in the visitor’s center. binoculars; camera. Also, note the lunch is after 1:30, so you may want to bring or buy a snack, or money to buy a snack, if needed.

If your registration arrives after all the spaces are filled, we will place you on the waiting list and notify you. Your cheque will be returned to you if a seat does not become available. To receive a refund, we must receive notice of cancelation at least one week prior to the tour (September 9, 2017) by email (admin@kitchenerhs.ca), mail or phone.
